Software Manager
Who we are
Dinamica Generale S.p.A. is a leading developer of precision agriculture and animal husbandry technologies. With more than 30 years of experience, we design and manufacture weighing systems, NIR sensors, and software to support farmers and nutritionists in improving farm performance, reducing feed costs, and sustainable production
The role
We are looking for a Software Manager to lead our R&D and Development department. The candidate will take the reins of a well-structured, multidisciplinary team of about 15 people. We are not looking for a “jack-of-all-trades,” but rather a true “conductor.” The company already has excellent technical specialists in each area (Firmware, Cloud, Apps); your task will be to bring out the best in them, coordinate their work, and ensure that the various “pieces of the technological puzzle” communicate seamlessly with one another.
Main responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Change Management: Leading, motivating, and developing an established team of 15 professionals. Aligning with existing dynamics and guiding the team toward the gradual and collaborative adoption of new processes and tools.
- Architectural Leadership (in collaboration with the team): Possess a strong systems-oriented mindset. You will work closely with internal experts to validate technology choices, standardize technology stacks, and ensure robust and scalable architectures across various domains.
- Collaboration with the Product Team: You will work closely with the Product Analysts. Your role will be to gather the business requirements they have identified, assess their feasibility, estimate timelines, and translate them into clear guidelines for the developers.
- Process and Tool Innovation: Define and optimize the software lifecycle. Evaluate and promote the adoption of best-in-class technologies to enhance team productivity (e.g., workflows on GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, AI integration for coding, test automation).
Requirements and Skills
- Background and Technical Vision: Previous hands-on experience as a developer and a solid understanding of architectural principles. You are not required to have in-depth experience with every one of our technologies, but you must possess excellent cross-functional understanding to communicate effectively with everyone from low-level C/C++ developers to those managing the Cloud.
- “Hands-off” but Well-Informed Managerial Profile: This is a strategic role. You won’t be required to write code, but you’ll need to be curious and stay up to date on technological trends, capable of overseeing work, conducting high-level reviews, and thoroughly understanding technical bottlenecks.
- People Management and Delegation: Proven experience managing technical teams (preferably >10 people). Ability to delegate implementation details to technical leads while maintaining overall responsibility for the project’s direction.
- Communication and Empathy: Excellent interpersonal skills. You must be able to listen to the team, mediate technical conflicts, and translate development constraints into clear options for the Product team.
