Dairyfarm project: discovering sustainable milk production

As part of the Expo 2015 events, the Parco Tecnologico Padano in Lodi is promoting a tour to discover the Italian way to milk production. A way that combines productivity, typicality and environmental sustainability, all within a framework of technical and economic efficiency. The project, called “Dairyfarm – Agriculture of Tomorrow” (which has among its partners university institutes and major companies in the sector) will be divided into several phases: thematic seminars, visits to barns (medium and large sized) and to experimental farms, delving into each stage of the supply chain, from the countryside to dairy processing, passing through all the stages of animal husbandry up to manure management. The seminars will be held between May and October on the following dates:- May 28, 2015, theme: Fodder crops, planting, harvesting and utilization.

• July 1, 2015, topic: The future of breeding: calves and heifers.
• Sept. 16, theme: Dairy cow: nutrition and welfare.
• October 12, 2015, topic: Milk processing.

Farm visits will begin in June and conclude in October.
