The installation of precision feeding systems produced by the Mantua-based company Dinamica Generale continues, with the support of Granda Team. Together, they promote technological upgrades in Italian dairy farms. This time, the spotlight is on Maccarese S.p.A.
Following several installations of precision feeding systems in leading dairy farms, a new project has now begun. Maccarese S.p.A., a flagship company of Italian milk production, has installed two systems for managing the feeding process of dairy cows. This technology will enable the company to oversee the feeding process through two key efficiency drivers: traceability and sustainability.
Within the company’s 3,200-hectare estate, the livestock operation is located on a 16-hectare area and includes 3,300 selected Holstein cattle, producing 42,000 liters of high-quality milk per day, supplied to households in Rome. The company also raises calves for the production of premium-quality beef. Its meat production chain and products have been certified by two independent bodies under the “Naturalmente Qualità” label. In 2007, the livestock center also achieved ISO 14001 environmental certification, issued by the international certification body Bureau Veritas, marking an important milestone for a company strongly committed to environmental protection and sustainability.
Sustainability across the entire supply chain is achieved through full traceability of data generated throughout the production process. Dinamica Generale’s systems provide traceability starting from the field and harvest, through feed storage management, and extending to all activities related to herd feeding. These include ration formulation, feed distribution, refusal monitoring, and data integration with the main milking and herd management software platforms.
The concept of traceability goes beyond the boundaries of the farm itself. The recent introduction of the Italian decree on mandatory origin labeling for dairy products and cheeses represents a historic milestone for the country, creating a new relationship between producers and consumers. Consumers must be informed in order to make conscious choices about the food they bring to their tables, with transparent access to product origin. This represents a major opportunity for Made in Italy, where the work of farmers and supply chains contributes to building a true culture of food.
As a partner in this project, Dinamica Generale’s mission is to enhance the value generated by farmers in the market by developing a distinctive model of quality and excellence, based on productive sustainability and the use of the most advanced technologies currently available.
The second key pillar of adopting a precision feeding system is waste control. Everything that does not reach the animal’s mouth represents an unproductive cost. Reducing waste is therefore a fundamental efficiency indicator in modern dairy farming, supporting both economic and environmental sustainability. Dinamica Generale’s precision feeding systems are designed to monitor feed production and distribution at the feed bunk, enabling real-time evaluation and adjustment of rations.
The shared goal of Granda Team and Dinamica Generale is to support farmers directly in the field, creating a virtuous cycle in the management of dairy feeding processes. This approach delivers tangible economic benefits for farms and strengthens the competitiveness of Italian production chains—of which Maccarese S.p.A. is an outstanding example.
