POGGIO RUSCO – They could not stop. And while the rest of the world slowed down because of the virus, they had to speed up. Roll up their sleeves so as not to disrupt supply chains that ensure the production of life-saving equipment. At Dinamica Generale in Poggio Rusco, they postponed the company’s 30th anniversary party (founded in 1990) and organized to handle orders that tripled in a short time. Not forgetting the health of those who work here. Temporarily suspending ancillary production, the company focused on the departments that deal with the activity that is essential in these dramatic weeks: the production of electronic components for intensive care machines. “We make equipment that is unique in the world,” says Andrea Ghiraldi, the company’s founder. That help save patients’ lives. We’ve had an incredible increase in requests: orders have tripled. And we’re doing well.” . The customers are mainly multinational companies, based in Italy and beyond, who then distribute their machines to every corner of the planet.
For internal safety, General Dynamics gave itself strict rules even before the law imposed them. One example? “We appointed a Covid-19 team with a dedicated person to check compliance with all the requirements of the regulations ,” Ghiraldi continues, ” In addition to this, we divided the staff into two shifts and expanded the workstations as much as possible: we were lucky because our production is very automated and the spaces are large. We have incentivized smart working, with 45 people working from home, procured masks (7 thousand were donated by a Chinese supplier), gloves and goggles for everyone, and provided fast lanes for material: the company is armored, no one gets in. And we give the employees a fever every day.”
To reward workers, management provided an extra bonus, from March to May, and on behalf of all employees pledged to make a monthly donation to civil defense throughout the emergency period. “We immediately took the problem to heart, and from March 9 onward smart working and shifting started,” explains Francesco Mauceri, 34, a Dinamica employee for five years. In addition to this, those who felt unsafe were given the opportunity to use vacation time freely. We all rowed in the same direction: the company, department heads and all other figures.” . Mauceri works in agriculture technology: the company produces analyzers that provide real-time data on agricultural harvest and animal nutrition on farms:
“What we do is important to ensure the path of a supply chain that must be kept alive. “
Federica Rezzaghi, 35, who has been with the company since 2006, works, instead, in the medical sector. “We felt protected right from the start,” she comments. In these moments people’s hearts come out. When, in the hallways,
you hear from department managers or the owner that we’re going to make it, you really believe it. Because they are the first ones to give it their all.” – SABRINA PINARDI
